Prior to this outbreak the total number of cases in the US was zero. There were a few brought in under controlled conditions (imported, nonetheless). One case occurred here in the wild (brought from Liberia) who gave the disease to two others.

Since the origin of the pathogens was outside the US, I'd call that "imported".

No, Ebola was not imported, except to research laboratories over the decades, some Americans came home for medical treatment of the disease.
