My wife had another friend who was a Chechen. No ethnic appearance whatsoever. Auburn hair, blue eyes, fair skin. Could've passed for a coed from Iowa. Again, liked to drink, smoke and dress less than modestly. I always assumed she was a typical Russian girl. When she married a Saudi and my wife told me she was a Muslim, yep, I was shocked.
Here in America, we tend to assume all Muslims have a swarthy, Arabic appearance and are observant in all facets of their religion. When one travels the world, we learn this isn't the case.
