BEIRUT (AP) — An international aid group has called on the United States to resettle 65,000 Syrian refugees before the end of 2016.

David Miliband, the President and CEO of the International Rescue Committee, tells The Associated Press that the whole international community shares responsibility for the consequences of the Syrian civil war.

Miliband, a former U.K. Foreign Secretary, says the U.S. has traditionally taken half the world's registered refugees who resettle in third countries and that the United Nations says it wants 130,000 refugees from Syria resettled in the wealthier countries of the world by the end of 2016. Half of that number would be 65,000.

I suggest we resettle the Syrians on South Georgia island and we rescue the penguins. It’ll be cheaper in the long run.

There is plenty of room in Saudi Arabia.

Southern Europe would be more culturally amenable to them.

Hmmm...What is the maximum population we can fit at Guantanamo Bay?

Maybe with triple bunks...Two moslems to a bunk?

"Bush and Obama are equally guilty"

WTF? I wish FReepers would stop equating these two as 'equals'. NO FReeper REALLY believes that, so do you say it to placate the bad guys? Bush loves our troops and they love him. The troops who invaded Iraq love Pres. Bush more than the troops forced to surrender in Iraq under 0dungo! AND DON'T FORGET THAT SADDAM INVADED OUR ALLY, KUWAIT!

Comparing Bush' 'USA #1' to 0dungo's USA is GUTLESS AND POWERLESS is ludicrous.

Japanese women have an extremely hard time getting green cards, even when they marry U.S. military men. I knew a Japanese woman who had to pay for her AIDs test even though she married a U.S. Marine in Okinawa. I knew another Japanese woman who had the U.S. immigration agents in her house asking personal questions of her and her American husband. They interrogated the husband and wife separately. They asked “what kind of underwear does your husband wear? On which side of the bed does your husband sleep?

If you are a Central American gangster or a Muslim with terrorist connections you can come to America. Japanese women get sent back. Go figure.
