Tracking for one of this summers most highly-anticipated tentpoles, Disney/Marvels Avengers: Age of Ultron came out this morning and, as expected, its tracking a little better than The Avengers at the same point in the cycle. That one, which was the highest opening in history, debuted to $207.4M in May of 2012. This new superhero cluster flick which includes everyone from Captain America, Iron Man, The Hulk, Thor, Falcon, Quicksilver, and Black Widow bows on May 1 in 3D and Imax 3D and is expected to be one of the highest if not the highest opening in history.

How have they determined this?
My son is outraged by the injustice done to Ant-Man by this flick.
CLUSTER FLICKS. It’s all in the font choice.
Projection based on people already buying tickets from sites like Fandango.
“Disney/Marvels Avengers: Age of Ultron came out this morning...”
Not in the U.S. I believe it is being released in Scandinavian markets early or something like that. Usually that is a test in case they need to make some final edits before an American release.
That is interesting. I thought the studios are now doing same day worldwide releases to prevent pirating.
Aw, he’s getting his own movie in a couple months though, so they didn’t completely forget about him. Everybody gets shorted somehow when it comes to movie adaptations I think.
I think with a movie like Avengers 2, they aren’t worried about piracy too much. Anyone who is serious about seeing it is going to crawl over broken glass to see in IMAX or 3D :)
The question everyone should ask is how gay marriage is portrayed in the movie.
Looking at the title, for a moment I thought the movie had already opened.
Pff? Gay marriage is old news. With the romance between Ultron and the Vision, this film will break new frontiers in gay robo-marriage!
I don’t know what you’re talking about. I’ll just figure on it staying that way.
The writer is lame. A “cluster flick”, ha ha ha. I would much rather comment on a more intelligent writeup than this crap.
At least that is based on some sort of real world data instead of a survey.
Falcon’s in it? Thats news, afaik.
Of course Ms. Busch might be referring to Col. Rhodie/Iron Patriot (seen in the trailers) played by Don Cheadle. Maybe all Blacks just look alike to Ms. Busch?
Captain America: met two Gods, still a Christian.
Tony Stark: met two Gods, still an athiest.
Hulk: met two Gods, beat the snot out of both.
That’s one reason I like the Marvel movies. They didn’t do the typical liberal two step and make Cap a “citizen of the world” like DC tried to do with Superman. He’s still symbolizing pretty traditional Americanism.
I also like Agent Coulson’s line about “people just might need a little old-fashioned”. Then there is Tony Stark telling Pepper “I’m tired of the liberal agenda. It’s boring!” :)
Yeah, Falcon is in it, it is certain now that they released the movie posters and Anthony Mackie’s name is in the credits:
