Cop charged with murder of motorist after jarring video surfaces
CHARLESTON, S.C. — A white South Carolina police officer has been charged with murder in the shooting death of a black motorist after a traffic stop. North Charleston Mayor Keith Summey told a hastily called news conference that city Patrolman Michael Thomas Slager was arrested and charged Tuesday after law enforcement officials saw a video of the shooting following a Saturday traffic stop. Authorities say the victim, 50-year-old Walter Lamer Scott of Charleston, was shot after the officer already hit him with a stun gun.

I had the same thought but doing some google searches I came across a supreme court case Tennessee v. Garner which says cops must have a reasonable belief that a fleeing suspect poses a danger to police or others.
One wonders why Walter was resisting arrest. It doesn’t seem to have been worth it. But that’s just my point of view.
It could also be, that North Charleston, South Carolina, doesn’t want riots.
But we do see the cop pick up the taser and walk over and drop it by the dead man’s body.

You don’t know that he was told to stop! All the video shows is an unarmed man running, to be shot in the back eight times, by a man whom a few seconds later plants a weapon on the victim.
The cop needs to hang.

Thanks for the video, I read an earlier article where a cop was charged with murder, you had to know the video would prove it beyond a doubt. I can’t recall another cop being charged with murder that quick.

You are probably right.
Not only does he plant a weapon, he gets caught planting the weapon.
Who cares, the shooting and what appears to be the planting of a weapon, stands on it’s own, the cop being annoyed or in a bad mood, is irrelevant, even if he was.
