Cop charged with murder of motorist after jarring video surfaces
CHARLESTON, S.C. — A white South Carolina police officer has been charged with murder in the shooting death of a black motorist after a traffic stop. North Charleston Mayor Keith Summey told a hastily called news conference that city Patrolman Michael Thomas Slager was arrested and charged Tuesday after law enforcement officials saw a video of the shooting following a Saturday traffic stop. Authorities say the victim, 50-year-old Walter Lamer Scott of Charleston, was shot after the officer already hit him with a stun gun.

I believe that the first thing his lawyer said was “he was in fear for his safety” before he sort of quit the case....Not sure, but I think that’s what happened. I’d have to go read the article again.
Or just maybe the cop is being prosecuted because HE MURDERED A MAN IN COLD BLOOD. Gee, ya think???

They are going to throw the book at him, because this shows if there was no video he would have gotten away with murder. Murder, lying, planting evidence? Daaaamn, did ever hear of a former cop named Justin Volpe? He was a cop in the 1990s who got into a tussle in front of a nightclub while making arrests and at the station house he flipped out and stuck a broom handle up the rear end of a black suspect Abner Louima who he claimed hit him in the head. He then lied about it, tried to pin it on “gay sex” that the suspect engaged in, but other cops testified that wasn’t the case. That Volpe sodomized the suspect with a broom handle and was actually bragging about it. Well the suspect lived with some internal damage, and Volpe was sentenced to THIRTY years in jail NO parole meaning he has to serve out the entire 30 years. The judge threw the book at him because of him lying. That’s what is going to happen to this guy.
but at what cost? Would you have your brother or other family member be murdered for a million dollars? At what price would you say Yes? How about your daddy, you’re a little boy or girl....the family members won’t even get big money, it would undoubtedly go to his children first. So would you sell your brother or relative if his children would get money, even big money??
That’s just an ugly supposition. And I think they deserve big money, by the way. This time, it’s clear. He murdered a guy he stopped for a broken tail light and maybe the guy did something wrong, it’s sort of hard NOT to do something wrong, these days. But not a capital punishment issue. But he got murdered. Shot in the back. Planted evidence. The cop “feared for his life” as the man ran away from him and he shot him in the back. In the back. Coward, piece of crap, and I’m talking about the cop.
Heard this morning on a Chicago talk radio show the same thing I was mentioning.

Oh no, he wasn’t compliant with a cop that we now know has issues, is willing to murder a man in cold blood? Maybe, just maybe, it wasn’t this dead man’s issues that made him run, but fear of an out of control, angry cop.
And I’ll use you as an example of “if all you’ve got is a hammer, everything begins to look like a nail” It’s not that you’re wrong, it’s that you’re doing the very thing that you are accusing others of!

You know what? You are so much more right than those that are saying “welllll, let’s see what the man did before the officer shot him down in the back, like a rabid dog in the street. Maybe he dissed the officer, after all.
CRAP. Give me a scenario where the officer could have had any reason to shoot a fleeing man in the back, and planting evidence on him. Just one.
Absent that, the cop is a murderous thug and should be charged with murder one.
