I have an older relative who is running Internet Explorer 8 on a Windows XP machine. She is finding that she can no longer load many of her favorite sites (no surprise there). So it's time for a new browser.
However, it took her quite a while to learn IE: how to add to Favorites, adjust the text size, etc. So I'm hoping there is a replacement browser out there that closely resembles her comfortable old IE 8. Any ideas would be very much appreciated!
Sure.
You’re posting about your mac on a thread about engines that can run on MS machines.
My advice to them was to dump the PC that runs the MS Windows operating system and the antiquated Internet Explorer browser software completely and get a Mac instead. Any idiot, including me, can operate a Mac and its Safari browser without instruction. My very young grandkids just intuitively operate the Mac and have never been taught how to do so. I'm sure the poster's "older relative" would find it easy to use.
I notice of the three comments you made on this thread, two were directed at criticizing my comments. Without intentionally disparaging you personally, I suggest you follow your own advice regarding restricting your comments strictly to the PC software thread or alternatively, mind your own beeswax.
Microsoft ended support for Windows XP almost a year ago
and it still has more users than Windows 8

Why so defensive?
Regardless, to address your point about the reliability of Windows vs. Apple, since Windows has about a 90% share of the global market, I would expect more crashes for Win machines than for Apple machines overall. We all know that both do have the occasional problem.
Because the majority of your comments were directed at why my comments are not appropriate for this thread. I'm just defending myself and my comments.
Twist and convolute as much as you need to, to come up with a rationale as to why MS Windows crash so often. But you are incorrect in describing "Windows machines" as machines. Apple produces their own hardware and operating software. MS produces software only for other manufacturers' hardware, but not their own "machines"
