The convictions of Amanda Knox and Raffaele Sollecito for the murder of UK student Meredith Kercher have been quashed by Italy's top appeals court.
The decision is the final ruling in the case relating to the 2007 murder.
Ms Kercher, 21, was found dead in a Perugia flat she shared with Ms Knox.
American Ms Knox and her Italian ex-boyfriend were found guilty in 2009, then freed in 2011 after the convictions were overturned. They were reinstated by another court last year. 'Full of joy'
The couple had always maintained their innocence and the decision by the Court of Cassation puts an end to their long legal battle.
The reasoning behind the decision will be made public in 90 days.
Ms Knox, 27, said she was "full of joy" after hearing the verdict.

“Ohhh well...I see the Italians going for a 5th try soon...”
I think this was their last gasp. Four is enough even for the corrupt Italian legal system.
I said I DON’T believe she murdered.
I do believe she was involved in drugs and indiscriminate sex. I also believe she associated with the wrong kind of people.
Don’t forget Tony Stewart and Bruce Jenner, who are rotting in FR prison for having committed murder.
There are 3 reactions that people have when stressed; fight, flight and (the less often seen) freeze response. This young woman froze when it became apparent that the Italian police were going to pin this on her... the reaction was suspect and most of the "evidence" was created to back her further into a corner.
I don't know if she is guilty or not, really... but seeing that interview... it totally convinced me that she now has deep, deep, character-altering damage coming out of all of this. I don't care if she is really pretty or not, I just can't help but feel empathy for her. I hope she finds a way to pick up the pieces of her shattered life and moves on... and uses the experience she went through and her adult wisdom to judge who she should associate with and trust.
You seem to be conflating poor moral choices about drugs and sex with the word “innocent” regarding the murder. They are two different kinds of innocence.
For some reason those people seem trashy to me.
So?
All I’m saying is she made choices which put her in unfortunate circumstances. The entire case against her stank from day one.
I think to still say today..you do not know if she is innocent or guilty, is not much better than saying she is guilty.
She is innocent it was clear from day 1
Thank you for posting about that corrupt prosecutor Mignini. He should be on our terrorist watch list. This case is an absolute sham.
Yes, as I said, Knox is an idiotic liberal, slutty, pot whore, but that does not make her a murderer.
You sound like a high school girl trying to impress the mean-girl clique.
I feel very passionate about the miscarriage of justice. Be it this case, Zimmerman, or the hoax in Ferguson, etc. So stuff it.
As I said more than once: She made some very bad life choices and participated in self destructive behavior. For some odd reason I don’t take her life choices personally like you seem to.
Hopefully she’s learned something and will clean up her act. You ought to read the Bible. You’d see a lot of examples of broken people living sinful lives. God seems to love such folk.
All of that is foolish and bad behavior. But it does not make her a murderer.
I dont take her life choices personally.
Yet you are compelled to repeatedly post that she is “...an idiotic, liberal, slutty pot whore...”
You’ve posted this several times on multiple threads. Either you take her life choices personally or you are somewhat obsessed with Ms Knox.
In the middle of the night, and without an interpreter.
It looks to me that she BEAT THE RAP
because of her “cute, innocent” LOOK!!
Sorry?
That's the Bible. This is Free Republic! We lead exemplary lives and raise perfect children.
UK's Daily Mail had a lot invested in this story. "Foxy Knoxy" and "Sex Game Gone Wrong" sells a lot more newspapers than Rudy Guede does.
