What I have found interesting is how the ships in the Star Trek series’ are all akin to naval battleships, crusiers, destroyers, etc.

Whereas just about every other series, Star Wars, Battlestar Galactica, Babylon 5, had the equivalent of a naval aircraft carrier that carried fighters and attack craft.

Given this, I then to notice that major battles tends to be more pre-WWII naval tactics in the Star Trek universe, and more post-WWII tactics in other SciFi storylines.

JMHO
