Just me, but the buttresses located on the exterior of the community seems to be designed to ‘keep them in’, and not out.

(Oh, does Carl disappear with the rogue girl?) That’s the new episode, Carl and the girl in the wilderness. They must save and repopulate the humans.
I know it looks like that and it could be a weakness in the community's safety.
However, as I mentioned in a prior thread, in a Talking Dead segment they showed how the community was created around an actual neighborhood and they built 4 artificial homes to do their filming while the people in the actual community were able to come and go and conduct their lives as normal as possible.
My thought was that the fence was buttressed from the outside so as not to obstruct the back yards of the residents with those planted pillars............
