Great competitor, How is it that he lived so long? Chris Borland says it is not possible.The game was barely past the days of leather helmets and only recently added the face bars. The players knew better than to use their head as a weapon.

No face mask so they didn’t use their heads as a weapon. Take away face mask, tackling improves and head injuries go down
