My dad owned one of these when I was growing up. His was a '76 Golden Eagle and it was his first Jeep. He took a one-way flight to Detroit to pick it up from the factory. He has owned nothing but Jeeps since then. Sadly, I have not seen any Golden Eagles on the road since the late '80s or so. This was a fun Jeep to drive.

Those rigs are definitely the prize!

We had some really snow today - and ice. Driving was rough, but I put the Jeep into 4WD and it was fine. My biggest worry was the cars sliding all around me. One guy went sideways in the opposite direction lane and scarred the dickens out me. Another guy pulled out right in front me - even with the great Jeep brakes I almost hit him.
Then, when I was almost home, I saw an old Wagoneer, very similar to this one.

Someone must have thought: "tough roads, time to get the old girl out of the garage."
Darned if that isn’t a great looking vehicle.
This thread is reinforcing my recent Jeep lust. There’s a girl at work who has a slightly lifted late model Jeep with aftermarket fender flares. That thing is so cool I almost can’t stand it. The only problem is the plasticky interior.
I wish I could find a modern Jeep but with a bare-bones ‘70s era interior.
