Two officers, one a 41-year-old St. Louis County police officer the other a 32-year-old officer from Webster Groves were shot on March 12, the Webster Groves officer left with a bullet lodged by his ear.
A weapon was recovered when Williams, 20, was arrested, and officials have tied that weapon to shell casings obtained at the scene.
St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney Robert McCulloch said during a press conference Sunday that Williams had been a demonstrator at the protests held but may not have been firing at the police:
The evidence we have supports the charge that he may have been firing at someone else and struck the police.(continued)

So now the narrative becomes ‘black man unfairly persecuted by white folks for shooting police while he was really shooting at somebody else’.
“1. Williams May Not Have Been Shooting At Police...”
Don’t tell me... he was just CLEANING HIS GUN, right?
If you look closely at that image there was a squirrel on the ground not far from those officers. Poor man was just hungry.
You know, I thought it was only the NYPD who Fire at “someone else” and hit innocent bystanders.
Then again, the odds of the innocent bystanders being Police Officers seems a little far fetched in this case.
If Obama had a Son, he would need more Range time.
Defense attorney: “My client was actually shooting at a rabid possum which was endangering a nearby child. Since racist gun ranges don’t allow blacks to practice at their establishments, my client was a poor shot and accidentally hit the racist cops”.
yeah riiiiight he was aiming at other people and not the cops. Interesting they are labeling him as a protester/demonstrator when holder and the rest of them are labeling protesters as the good guys.
Peaceful protests are a fundemental facet of a free society and a good thing. Violent protests are an illegal act at which point the protestors become criminals.
It is not hard to disperse a riot if you have the will for it. A small team of snipers can do it with ease.
1. When a riot starts announce it will be met with force perhaps deadly if rioters do not disperse. Announce that looting will be meet with immediate deadly force.
2. First riot, take a leg off with a 300 win mag
3. Second riot center of mass shots.
4. Riots are over.
"Aw, let him go. He's a good Christian shooting at a squirrel. Really, cops today often find themselves in the line of fire; it's really their own fault for not being careful."
The coverup begins.
Hi.
It was the squirrel.
Now I’m hungry...
5.56mm
I would disagree, he was protecting the officers from the squirrel that was about to attack them and they got struck by the ricocheting bullets....while it was unfortunate the officers were hit, Jefferson was indeed a hero.
As a follow up, the dead squirrel's body was mysteriously removed from the scene and now Jefferson is being blamed for an alleged attack.........
So now we have gobe from, he had to a sharpshooter and therefore he could not be black because blacks cannot shoot, to he was a bad shot because he was black and therefore hit the police by mistake. Just who are the racists here ?
And 3 out of 5 of the facts had nothing to do with Williams.
Well obviously the squirrel was just racist, refusing to share his acorn with a black man
They couldn’t even do that 50 years ago, what makes you think they could pull it off now? The lawsuits would be unbelievable.
Obama adds him to his pardon list, “looks like the son I never had”
“I’m Gumby, dammit!”
