My family went up there on our vacation back in the late 1950s, and my little brother went running up ahead of us - he very nearly went flying off were not for a man who grabbed him at the last minute. No guard rails back then. Are there now?

I’ve never been further west than Munising.

Lake-of-the-Clouds has walkways and a stone wall to keep the tourists from falling over the edge. But there are hiking trails along the ridge for the adventurous. We went last fall for the first time, but we're too old and out of shape to do much hiking. The 1/2 mile, +300ft elevation hike to the Summit wore us out.
