Am I the only one who gets annoyed by these car insurance commercials where people act indignant if their rates go up after an accident? Or that their car’s blue book value goes down immediately after purchase?

In the first case, that is what actuarial science is all about. You pay lower rates unless and until you are deemed a higher risk. Why should everyone pay a higher premium?

Behavior has consequences.

In the second case, that’s why there is a thing called “gap insurance.”

Catering to morons who don’t understand insurance and expect the world to be as they wish it were sounds an awful lot like Obamacare.

have you tell you about my brief little moment in the twitter sun yesterday. I have mentioned I read at noon Mass at Holy Rosary. Well yesterday after my co-lector sat down after saying the Angelus, he said to me, do you ever watch fox news? I said, it’s ALL I watch, he said well the WH correspondent is sitting over there in the back of the church. So I glanced back and said to Alex, wow ED HENRY! It was him and he went to communion and everything. After Mass I tweeted how nice it was to see him there and how the lectors were both fans of his, and he tweeted me back that I did a great job with the reading : ) My family roared!

Apparently car insurance is the next big racial issue....males already pay higher premiums because they are (evil, crazy, reckless...?) but if insurance discriminates against women then we probably need to have white males share the burden with us. ;^)

“Am I the only one who gets annoyed”

No, you are not-and I’m glad to find I’m not the only person here who thinks the average person is now a clueless idiot. The one where the guy whines can’t they see you are shook up really makes my teeth itch, and I want to yell no one ever told you the car depreciates the minute you drive it off the lot, fool?

Driving a pricey new vehicle on the narrow, rough roads out here isn’t something most people do more than once-which is probably why this is used P/U truck and SUV country...

The other commercials that make my teeth itch are the ones where people sob in gratitude for life alert, back surgery, weight loss products and even dental implants-why is everything that happens a tragedy no one can cope with-and when did it become attractive to cry in public? Even when I was a kid, if you cried-or threw a tantrum in public, your parents would hiss in your ear stop it or I will give you something to cry about. Public displays were not acceptable.
