Word For The Day, Monday, 3/9/15
In order that we might all raise the level of discourse and expand our language abilities, here is the daily post of "Word for the Day".
insouciant; adj.
adjective 1. free from concern, worry, or anxiety; carefree; nonchalant.
Etymology: 1829, from French insouciant "careless, thoughtless, heedless," from in- "not" (see in- (1)) + souciant "caring," present participle of soucier "to care," from Latin sollicitare "to agitate" (see solicit ). Related: Insouciantly.
Rules: Everyone must leave a post using the Word for the Day in a sentence.
The sentence must, in some way, relate to the news of the day.
Practice makes perfect.....post on....
On my way home. :^(
One of my favorite things!
well just reflect on the memories. anxious to hear about the shower!
I know, me too!
The ever insouciant Hillary checking her off-shore banking app balances.
absolutely perfect illustration! A++++
Time change here for us is 2:00 a.m.
It is 52 here and it has been raining off and on since late yesterday-but at least it isn’t freezing...
An insouciant king Obama
Lives in his own fantasy
Golfing almost every day
And flying around for free
Michelle says her lunches
For kids be served instead
Of anything that is tasty
And has meat-not all bread
And when people do complain
That the lunches are not fit
For normal, active children,
She says you’ll get used to it...
great one! A+++ it is 61 here and sunny and it is oh so welcome after our deep freeze!
“Am I the only one who gets annoyed”
No, you are not-and I’m glad to find I’m not the only person here who thinks the average person is now a clueless idiot. The one where the guy whines can’t they see you are shook up really makes my teeth itch, and I want to yell no one ever told you the car depreciates the minute you drive it off the lot, fool?
Driving a pricey new vehicle on the narrow, rough roads out here isn’t something most people do more than once-which is probably why this is used P/U truck and SUV country...
The other commercials that make my teeth itch are the ones where people sob in gratitude for life alert, back surgery, weight loss products and even dental implants-why is everything that happens a tragedy no one can cope with-and when did it become attractive to cry in public? Even when I was a kid, if you cried-or threw a tantrum in public, your parents would hiss in your ear stop it or I will give you something to cry about. Public displays were not acceptable.
Thank you! I heard on Fox that a little kid sent thunder thighs a message saying that she had ruined the tacos at his school and the pizza, too and would she please let them be the way they had been. She put her nose in the air, sent him some cutesy stuff and said something like change is hard but you’ll get used to it-I was inspired to rhyme about that...
Dear lord, not booty shorts & tube tops. I see those at school once the weather gets warm. Coming to pick up their kids, cousins, grandkids, nieces, nephews...whatever.........w/ tats spilling out all over. Warm weather is eye damage time in my district. Not everyone, by any means, but enough!
The Prince of Abu Dabi is late with payment again this month, she thought to herself.
Was kidding of course I know those most likely to wear those things are those who have the least reason to do so! Just thrilled it’s watm and sunny. I’m outside with my cavalier kingg Charles spaniels and they’re NEKKID : )
Are booty shorts the same as short shorts/daisy dukes? I still wear those an at home, or on vaca to the each-but not anyplace else-halters and tube tops should be under a shirt in public-just my opinion-my 1st husband and I didn’t wear sweats/jogging attire in public, either-he called them “winter cutoffs”...
Oops-get rid of the “an”, and it is “beach”-not “each”.
I think booty shorts are the ones that say “juicy” or something on the back.
So did I. It used to be my favorite show. Remember “Mummmmmeeee??? It’s Kayyyyyyyyyyyy”???
Oh, yech-I’ve seen those in stores, and at first I thought they were like pajama bottoms-women actually wear those in public?
