Well, Harvey Milk was killed, not because he was gay, but because of a job dispute.

And then 40,000 people marched through the city streets. But none of them had blood spilled, unless they cut themselves on some broken glass or something.

Matthew Shepherd was brutally murdered, not because he was a homosexual, but because of a drug deal gone bad (IIRC).

So, Job Disputes, Drug Deals Gone Bad, and other vicissitudes of life become “cause celeb” if any of the participants happen to be homosexual.

Unlike the color of one’s skin, religion or sexual orientation are not immediately obvious to the casual observer, unless of the course, if a person displays behavior and mannerisms that are stereotypical. Behavior (such as wearing a BIG Cross or Star of David, or loudly saying grace in a restaurant), will certainly identify you by religion, and mannerisms and speech patterns could cause others to perceive homosexuality.

However THOSE things are the Choice of the individual, and so one has to be responsible for one’s choices in life.
