I guess when the ship runs out of "Megawatts" it's dead in the water by this author's logic.

I guess when the ship runs out of "Megawatts" it's dead in the water by this author's logic.I read it in terms of "bandwidth." Allocating 1/3 of the ship's total power generation to firing the railgun means that it has to be diverted from powering something else.
