The term “Vulcanized rubber” will never be the same.

It’s good to laugh and I think Nimoy would be laughing along with us as we remember his works.

Kirk and Scotty were Canucks but Spock was a Bostonian! Kirk was OK,Scotty,Bones,Checkov and Uhura were great....but Spock was my favorite by far.Regardless of where he was from.

Yeah, because otherwise this would be just plain weird, playing up a “connection” that is completely random and disconnected.

Indeed. The place is very small so they latched onto this and now have a museum of Trek stuff and the Enterprise greeting you as you arrive.

Was the name of the town “Vulcan” before the show?
To: 9thLife
Why is the connection weird?
After all, this town has a Bill Clinton museum.

Was the name of the town Vulcan before the show? Now there's a thought...retro-naming in order to capitalize on popularity...Can't believe it hasn't been done yet.

That's far too dignified a term for Clinton's activities.
Look for "Raping","Rutting", and "Cradle-Robbing".

It says in the article the town was named after the Roman god in 1910 so they predated the show by quite a lot.

If you really want to spoof Spock, check out
Stone Trek.
These were a hoot -- very clever. Unfortunately the links seem to be all bad now and the site has become a haunt of alibaba popups.

Truth or Consequences, New MexicoI wouldn't have believed it if I hadn't looked it up.
But wait! TV and movies don't influence people, so it can't be!
