I was one of the early texters.
Back in the late 90’s Motorola used my company as a test bed with their text device that opened up like a clamshell to replace our pagers with. it soon became a pain in the ass with co-corkers texting questions every 10 minutes.
I have hardly texted ever since.
It’s the utter lack of “utility” that I hate.
It’s great to say hello etc...
But,
It seems that more and more people are abandoning their PC, with all it’s utility, in favor of, well, stupidity.

Early 90’s my dept. thought it would be field work time saver to install a DOS software texting program so the secretary could send a message to our pagers along the lines of “Appointment set for you at 2:00pm, 123 Elm st.”.
The secretary didn’t like typing out long messages so all she ever sent was “call the office”.
