We should try putting a lander on it too, some kind of instrument package. Similarly I’d like to see us hang a similar package on every comet that comes near. Sort of like throwing a bottle in the ocean with your name and address on it, to see where it goes and what comes back.
Now that we’ve got landers on Mars and the one comet, I’m hooked.
It would be worthwhile IMHO to stick solar-powered pingers on all the Near-Earth Objects, to track their trajectories around the Sun, and this one, being so close, might be a good choice for first one.
