He was talking about sacrificing himself to save the crew of the ship. Am familiar with the context. Just pointing out that the actual meaning of that line can be far from benign.

Prayers up. He’s provided a lot of entertainment over the years.

From what I’ve read there is only 1 shot where you can see his lost fingers. I believe it was in “The Trouble with Tribbles” when he walks in with an armful and says “aye, they’re in the machinery all right”.

He lost one, actually. On at least one occasion, you could spot it.

That phrase was simply about Spock sacrificing himself so that the ship might survive as he exposed himself to radiation. While it can be twisted to socialism and marxist origin, in the proper context it was simply a few words of comfort to a distraught Kirk as he had saved the ship and was dying. The parting final words of Spock dying as one who allowed many others to not perish in a disaster.

Good thing he has a spare, what with being a Vulcan and all.

Hunter would have got the second pilot but was under contract for a movie so they went with Shatner.

I hope it’s not curtains for Kid Monk Baroni.
Met Nimoy briefly once, and he came across quite nice and friendly. Enjoy spotting his pre-Trek appearances in westerns and such. He appeared in a lot of old shows.

He was in an old Outer Limits and maybe Twilight Zone. Of course, Shatner was in two of the best Twilight Zones of all time.
