How accurate is that 70,000 years ago figure? Is it perhaps 70k + or - 5 years. Could this have been in any way related to the 74,000 years ago eruption of Toba which caused a major downturn in our already dropping Ice Age temperatures?

I wonder if it could have shaken things loose here on earth, not just in the Oort cloud, or something in the Oort cloud could have been sent our way. Around 74,000 years ago there was a tremendous volcanic explosion called Toba. It left a crater some 16 by 65 miles in size, and caused a noticeable downturn in already cooling earth temperatures. I think it was in Indonesia. Perhaps if it was a cause, its passage and magnetic field could have effected the earth’s crust causing a monster split in a magma zone.
