Don't scrimp on brake issues.At least not if you love your wife! ;-) Your comment on the brakes being applied constantly due to traction control doesn't ring true however...unless your wife's favorite film is Smokey And The Bandit.That is,unless she's got a really heavy accelerator foot or drives on lousy roads the traction control shouldn't kick in that often.
