If you're a man and want to throw your office into turmoil tomorrow, all you have to do is show up in a dress. If you're a woman and want to utterly disrupt the lives of everyone around you, just grow a beard. What we're saying is that people cling so desperately to gender roles that when anyone colors outside those lines, the world freaks the **** out. No one knows this better than transgender people.

A man can put on a dress without changing anything about his physical reality. A woman can put on men’s clothing (like there’s much difference these days) without raising an eyebrow. If she’s growing a beard, she’s chemically tormenting herself.
So can we call them the Mock-Cox team?
Actually it’s lopadicophamy.
I wish FReepers would just post the “bullet points” of these cracked.com articles (whatever the topic) instead of forcing reders to buy into cracked.com’s “clickbait” business model.
Telling a woman that she is a man because she believes it to be so is akin to giving a sword and a funny hat to a man that believes that he is Napoleon and telling him that if he invades Russia he’ll feel better about himself.
Having a beard and/or a schmeckel is not a gender role assigned by society. It’s a natural result of BEING male.
Showing up with a dress and/or breasts is going to make people wonder what happened to the schmeckel.
Normal people don’t cling desperately to rigid gender roles.
People whose elevator doesn’t go to the top floor think they can fix their mental problems by lopping off an appendage or grafting one on.
Wow ... what a demented world view. This person doesn’t realize that s/he is the problem ... not the rest of the world.
Attention whores.
And they do get the attention ... so it works.
That's really what is driving this. It has become "fashionable" to be "gender-confused" and attention starved people now have a path to get themselves noticed.
A boy can put on a dress and become homecoming queen of his high school. And he will almost definitely win because the other students will trip over themselves to vote for him, lest they be accused of being "homophobic" and insensitive.
Oddly, women trying to become men don't get the same attention as boys becoming girls. I think it's because society in general is hostile towards traditional masculine behavior and so they encourage men to emasculate and feminize themselves.
What can I say, this is a woman who thinks she is a gay man. This is a level of confusion which my brain cannot process.
So.. If you were borne a male, no matter how much you try to rearrange your plumbing you are still male
Confusion on top of confusion.
An Addadictomy doesn’t make you a male?
“Thou shalt not bear falsies against thy neighbor”
Best quote yet.
Showing my age, but in the old days, people who were confused after looking in their underwear about what they were, were treated for the obvious mental disorder.
One of those lessons should be: It’s biologically impossible to change your sex.
Your sex is a trait, like blue eyes and genotype. It is a binary trait, in the human species, and the rare 1 in 100,000 hormonal disorder or genetic mistake does not violate the male/female binary for the rest of the species.
I will say gender roles are (mostly) societal. In no society has society ever considered women soldiers (men are better physically suited) or men to be the child bearers (simple biology). Beyond that, gender roles are a social construct, such as whether men are in the fields and women at home (most of West) or women work in the fields and men sit around and laze about or herd the animals (Africa) or a mix (Middle East, where women only go out if it is a group of women, men either work separately or not at all). Likewise, the clothing and colors and permitted public roles are social constructs and easily changed (pink was a boy color before 1900).
That said: a biological male who says he’s a woman is as mentally ill or worse than one that says he’s Napoleon. A biological female who says I am a man, particularly in a society that doesn’t say she can’t fight, can’t go in public, can’t act as an equal because of her gender, is mentally ill - in need of serious counseling and drugs that are not male hormones.
