The first official image of Daniel Craig filming the new James Bond film Spectre has been released.

Associate Producer, Gregg Wilson called the sequence "amazing", "spectacular" and a "jewel in the crown" of the film.

I do not like Daniel Craig as Bond. He lacks the sophistication of his predecessors.
But they are making great action sequences lately and deserve credit.

I’m not a James Bond fan, but I think the genre works better in the ‘50s to ‘60s. I would fix the character in Ian Fleming’s time. Superman should probably be fixed to about 1940 as well.

Agree. Bond was a cold war kind of guy.

Please, this isn't a "Bond is Gay thread". If you are not interested please go somewhere else. But I can almost guarantee it will be a "Bond movies were better in MY day thread" or a "Not as good a Connery" thread. Blah, blah. I like the new Craig films, except for the parts of "Skyfall" where they brought back a little of the cheese of past movies. Hopefully this one plays it straight drama and action.

That handgun isn’t Bond’s usual Walther ppk...looks like a Sig Sauer.

Bond gadgetry of yesteryear has been replaced with “there’s an app for that.” Mini cameras and audio recorders are everywhere. Location devices are on every person.
As far as the sophistication of his character goes, consider the fact that you want the audience to understand what they’re seeing. Just like our voters have been dumbed down, our audiences follow.

You look at those old Bond movies and see the way he would directly hit on the women...people are “used to” those films, but if that came out today, I bet the fems would be furious.

I believe Daniel Craig does an excellent portrayal of Ian Fleming's James Bond. In his books, Fleming didn't portray Bond as a sophisticated socialite, but as a man who smoked, drank, and had several different women in his life. He was fiercely loyal to his country and his agency, and he got the job done.

I think he does a good job as Bond for the same reasons.

Correct me if I’m wrong, but they portray the new (Craig) Bond as a sort of “reclamation project” - almost like some down-and-outer patriot who they train to become some super-sleuth. I seem to remember a scene in one of the Craig/Bond films where the audience is given a little bit of back-story to that effect...
