Then Robertson left — because despite all the attention, he still had to get to his 2 p.m. factory shift on time, and nothing stops James Robertson.

How many would have stood around and milked it for all it was worked? Yet he gets in his car and heads to his $10.00 an hour job!

This week I heard that people on the internet had already pledged over $150,000. Hope he got something nice.

Wish we still had many millions like him, as we did in 1960, but we don’t, do we?

He got better than $300,000 and the banker friend set him up with someone to help him keep it.

If he did get $300,000, what can’t he afford?

I think there are more like him than we know. I’ve met quite a few like him in Detroit.

They tend to be middle aged or older but they are there.

All I’ve got to say to the scumbags who protest for $15 per hour to work at McDonald’s part time is ‘you clowns should be ashamed of yourselves.’

He is modest, has a great sense of humor and a drive/work ethic deserving the attention and reward.

Bravo.

Perhaps his story will inspire the next generation...we can certainly use a lot more like him!

If he got that much then he can afford insurance and upkeep but that wasn’t the last figure that I had read.

I haven’t read this story, but walking 21 miles would take about 7 hours.

Average walking speed is 2.80 to 2.95 MPH

Is that 21 miles round trip?

Even then, I find this story might be a bit suspect.

In 1960 Detroit was a way nicer place, and THIS is why.

He got a sensible Ford Taurus. I think the choice makes him shine that much more!
