Since every vehicle needs wiper blades, but in your climate they don't "need" them often, someone in your community or vicinity should be marketing durable, removable covers for the wiper blades, which protect them from the climate, but can be easily removed and stored in the vehicle when the wiper blades "need" to be used.
And then put back on when the storm has passed.
It's like those little caps on the valve-stems of your tires. No one really needs them, but almost everyone has them.
If you had them, and no one stole them, your wiper blades would last a lot longer.

I use the wipers on the average of twice a week because of the dust and pollen, not to mention the wayward sprinkler or “scattered shower.” The heat kills them more than disuse. When one has to use a pot holder to open a car door, you know you’re in a desert climate.
