It is weird...If you mention Azincourt or Crecy, Everybody has heard of it.
Post Tudor history just gets ignored.
Perhaps it contains to many useful warnings about the future?

Are you joking? If you mention Agincourt or Crecy to anyone but a college history major or a reenactor, they'll think it's a metal band.

Post-Tudor history does get a little garbled ... Jameses and Anne, Charles and Cromwell, then all the Georges ...

Moose (and all)

I live within a few miles of a house where George Washington. Slept during the Revolutionary War. He marched his troops through and they slept there.

When I was growing up, every school kid had a class trip there, every Boy and Girl Scout visited. I went with my best friends seven year old last year when he was six, to help my friend chaperone the class, and I was amazed at the number of children who didn’t know who George Washington was. This was first graders! Surely they should know that by first grade!

I love history. It’s so fascinating. I even have a degree in it. Shhh....
