I just re-joined FR and I would like to post to my local NC state board but I am not able to. How do I get the ability to do that?
Well, I am not actually a fan, but I don’t call it exactly ethical to land on earth with superior weponry and the ability to cloak and take on earthlings - even Special Forces. IIRC, the predator in the first movie actually tried to instill terror, not just hunt.
In the sequel of AVSL we could discover if an alien that gestated inside a Sith Lord came out able to use the Force.
Checking in. I’ve been plagued with nausea since about noon yesterday, and it just keeps staying with me and getting worse then a little better, then a lot worse. I didn’t dare risk going to the DMV. They will just have to accept my illness excuse.
It’s 49 degrees and the wind is still blowing around 25 mph sustained with gusts reported at 60 and 75. NOT going out there. My eyes are still swollen and itchy from being out in it yesterday, running a couple of errands with Busdaddy.
One of my nieces called last night. They had lived in Tucson forever, but after her hubby was unemployed for six months, he got a job offer in Idaho, where she was born. So I will call her in a bit and see how she is doing.
I’m going to have some more tea and lie down for a while. This can’t last forever. I hope.
The car is ready. The dealer is paying for the repairs!!! Tom and I will pick it up after I take Bill to work.
50s and raining.
I don't think I've ever heard of such a thing. I thought Buyer Beware was invented by car dealers. I've always trusted drug dealers more.
Not that I've ever dealt with a drug dealer. I'm speaking hypothetically, of course.
They are paying for the repairs unsolicited. All I did was tell the assistant that the car had immediately developed a problem and that we’d taken it to the mechanic they use. Then, Anoreth and Bill met the lot owner at Beantown Tavern and had some beers ...
Maybe they’re just nice people.
I just got some disconcerting news, but I can’t say I didn’t expect it. This is the beginning of the third year I’ve had the BB SUV and I’d expected to replace the battery within the next six months. I don’t know how long the battery has been in it, but for being in the desert for two years, it’s done surprisingly well.
I may or may not get to DMV tomorrow. I have to stop and get a prescription filled, and will need to find an incline to park on so I can clutch-start the car to get home.
*sigh*
So far, this year has not had much to say for itself. Now I will need to check on battery prices. And I don’t have any jumper cables... :o|
It’s good the dealership is paying for repairs. That says a lot for them, in this day and age. Apparently, integrity is still alive in some pockets of the country. :o]
I can't get years to talk, period. They must like you better.
If the year likes me, it should be saying nicer things...
Tom and I have retrieved the car. We drove to the QT, where I put gas in it, and then he drive to Walmart to buy himself shampoo, while I went home in the van.
No disasters so far.
My, my! Such an optimist.
He drove at least 3 miles.
Well, I looked out the window and, at least up here, the sun is still shining and the birds are still - well pigeons don’t exactly sing but they’re doing what pigeons do.
So, apparently his driving is compatible with the current continuum.
Good news about the car and Tom’s successful driving event.
My nausea has gone, but now I’m stressed about the truck’s battery. I have decided that when I leave here in the morning, I will go home and get an extra set of keys, then go to Walgreen’s to get the prescription filled. I will leave the truck running while in the store, which is why I need the extra keys...so I can lock it.
Push comes to shove, I can always call AAA, but I’m not doing too well, stress-wise lately. Just too much going on at once. :tearing hair out:
I hope you made it there and back. DP and Anoreth have gone in the new car to get Vietnamese food.
They lived. Looks like it will be safe for Bill to drive to school tomorrow.
I was thinking about what you said about Bill’s being a blond, deep down. As we were all discussing who would drive him around today, while he sat there basking, I realized: he’s a Southern Belle!
Or at least a Southern Bill.
” No disasters so far.”
Not mentioned: the vehicle started speaking Sumerian on the way back, but that was attributed to the presence of Tom?
He was born in San Antonio.
One of the characteristics of a Belle is that she (or he) expects natural forces to organize themselves around her needs. If she needs to be at point A at 10:00 and point B at 2:30, and she has no car ... well, the universe will somehow accommodate her, with no effort required on her part.
Anoreth did not mention extinct languages - or Vietnamese - during the trip for food. We’ll see what happens tomorrow.
