I think they need to get back to their roots. They have tried to be all things to all people with their expanding menu and it does not work very well. Burgers, fries and a shake is what they need to concentrate on.

“I think they need to get back to their roots.”

YES!!!!
They are now trying to be a Starbucks, Denny’s, a “wrap” Taco Bell, Chick-fil-a, Dairy Queen, Orange Julius and McDonalds under one roof.

The more they go vegan and get paranoid about being ‘green,’ the more they’re going tick people off. Too many customers make stupid diet specific demands out of what is essentially a burger joint.

I've been advocating a return to a much simpler McDonald's menu for a number of years. Here is what I want them to do:

1. Simplify the breakfast menu to:

Egg McMuffin
Sausage McMuffin (with or without egg)
Sausage Biscuit
Hotcakes with Sausage
Hotcakes with Sausage and Egg (the Big Breakfast)

2. Simplify the lunch/dinner menu to:

Hamburger (one or two hamburger patties)
Cheeseburger (one or two hamburger patties)
Quarter Pounder (with or without cheese)
A specialty Quarter Pounder with your choice of toppings in a limited range
Big Mac
McChicken
Filet-O-Fish

3. A beverage menu limited to:

Coffee but with the good preparation methods like Tim Hortons coffee
Orange drink
Cola-flavored soda beverage (regular and diet)
Lemon/lime-flavored soda beverage (regular and diet)
Mike shake in chocolate, vanilla and strawberry flavors, plus mint for St. Patrick's Day, maybe pumpkin (if it is possible) for Halloween/Thanksgiving, and Eggnog for Christmas

Such a simplified menu would allow McDonald's get back to its roots and cut the cost of its sandwiches across the board, with an increased emphasis on quality of food and food preparation.

Bring back their 1970's menu with 1970's quality. French Fries should not taste like Crayons. Used to Mickey D had great fries. Now they are horrible even straight out of the frier. Burger King needs to go back to it's roots as well. The only 1970's and earlier burger I know of is Krystal which is where Dave Thomas got his idea for a square burger LOL. A restaurant he worked at in Knoxville, TN as a teenager had a Krystal about a block over.
