The bottom line, I think, is collect something because you enjoy it and find other benefits, educational, artistic, whatever, not because you expect to make a lot of money.

If you do, more power to you, but it is just icing on the cake.

That’s exactly where I “plateaued”; when value became more important than the things I loved about collecting, it lost its lustre. My life circumstances had changed; I was saving for a home, and planning on starting a family - and money itself became much more important to me than it ever had been. I guess I grew up...

Still have my favorite pieces, though; it would be hard to part with them.
