Maybe people are getting tired of massive CGI effects that essentially make every movie a cartoon. I was watching Terminator the other day and my son was riveted to the screen. Good action and little or no CGI. I even pointed out to him how the guy in the truck on fire was really on fire! Not some guy standing in front of a green screen with computer generated fire on him with a starbucks latte waiting on a nearby table..
Done right, CGI works. Yes, there’s a line where the movie becomes all about the sturm und drang of the CGI and loses the plot.
For others, it works just fine.
He must be the most obscure actor in the world. I’ve never even HEARD of him! LOL!
Of course, I rarely keep up with Hollyweird any more. :)
There was little or no CGI when Terminator was made. The film is filled with visual and special effects - mostly involving models and miniatures - which is the way effects were done in the days before 0101010101111000s...
A movie released in January or February is done so to die. The studio doesn’t want to waste the precious summer or holiday release windows.
That being said, every once in a while you get a winner in January/February. Hollywood wanted American Sniper to bomb, but the quality of the film and the lack of serious competition made it a hit.
You know you are REALLY in for a dog when a movie was supposed to be released in the summer or holidays and it was pushed back to February.
The trailer was unintentionally funny.
