Proposal would criminalise activities such as banning the burqa, forced marriage, female genital mutilation and Holocaust denial
European Jewish leaders, backed by a host of former EU heads of state and government, are to call for pan-European legislation outlawing antisemitism amid a sense of siege and emergency feeding talk of a mass exodus of Europes oldest ethnic minority.
A panel of four prestigious international experts on constitutional law backed by the European Council on Tolerance and Reconciliation (ECTR) have spent three years consulting widely and drafting a 12-page document on tolerance. They are lobbying to have it converted into law in the 28 countries of the EU.
The proposal would outlaw antisemitism as well as criminalising a host of other activities deemed to be violating fundamental rights on specious religious, cultural, ethnic and gender grounds.
These would include banning the burqa, female genital mutilation, forced marriage, polygamy, denial of the Holocaust and genocide generally, criminalising xenophobia, and creating a new crime of group libel public defamation of ethnic, cultural or religious groups. Womens and gay rights would also be covered.

Europe will have laws banning Jews before they have laws banning anti-Antisemitism.
Europe is pretty far along the path to extinction. Hope we manage to get their nukes before the slimy muzzies get them, else we’ll see that silly nuke clock (you know, the one that now is also associated with glow-bull warming) get to midnight.
One can only hope that Europe’s military will do what our military will also have to do....before the idiots assume complete control.
What’s anti-Semitic about banning the burqa? It just means you can’t cover your face and arms with a sleeping bag while in public places such as banks and schools. It’s a public safety issue.
Damn fools.
I believe there are already laws that cover the murders at the Kosher deli in Paris last week, the vandalism of synagogues and the assaults on Jews throughout Europe’s “no-go” zones.
The dirty secret behind all the proposed “blaspheming the Prophet” laws is that what has made them plausible is the precedent of making “Holocaust Denial” illegal.
Free speech is free speech. The alternative is totalitarianism, and for Europe’s Jewish community, extinction.
You have that right. If Europe had taken a different path and didn't let Muslims in, we might not have seen this resurgence of Antisemitism. But the Muslim's natural hatred of Jews, combined with Europe's traditional dislike of Jews, created the perfect mix for a re-awakening. Its not going away unless Jews start breeding like rabbits and flexing their political muscles. But its too little too late for that. And hoping that the multi-cultural, post-Christian Socialists who run Europe will come to their defense is a pipe dream. They need to leave for Israel while they can.
I never for the life of me understood making Holocaust Denial illegal. A person can deny any fact but that doesn’t make it so. On the other hand, some have proposed making global warming deniers criminals too.
horse crap.
Can’t make fun of the Jews?
Mooselimbs?
Obammy’s elephant ears?
Moochelle’s big ass or her brats?
Whatever despot is in charge of Saudi Arabia?
But it’s sure ok to drag Christians through the mud.
I’ll make fun of any thing or anyone I care to thanks/.
How much longer will "Jewish leaders" look to secularism to protect them from their enemies?
Just ban Islam. Simpler, and protects ALL other religions, not just Jews.
If normal people sat across the table from anti-semitics and asked them to justify their position, what would they say....I’ve never understood it at all...ever!!!
one of them will cut your head off for it....and they are VERY serious.
