Great story. That 78 blizzard was actually the twin blizzard winter. I lived in Yonkers NY outside NYC. I was a youngster of 10 back then. Three school snow days. Spent the first helping my dad dig out his car down by the church parking lot. He and others who lived up the hill parked there when we had impending bad weather and hoofed up the hill home.
After that with a snow day, an Army of kids from my neighborhood helped dig out cars and check on the elderly sweeping their porch, shoveling their walks. The older kids ran errands for the more infirm. Then after that, a lot of sledding and snow football and snow ball fights.
Loved snow as a kid and do now but don’t miss the shoveling. My kids grew up from Virginia to Kansas, then Oklahoma and finally Texas with my military service. Now settled in central Texas and rarely get snow. When we do we have to shovel the snow off the lawn in piles just to make a snow man:) sometimes it is mostly dead grass:)
But today it was 72 sunny with blue sky. Spent the day out in God’s Glorious creation.
But you cannot be one of the Frozen Chosen!
