He didn’t shoot him for the mere presence of a gun. And he was very polite when he first approached the car. All the ex con had to do is comply with the hands up and remain still commands.
And he’s been in prison, he knew exactly what he was doing. I’m glad he got shot. And it in no way translates over into normal people getting shot.
Unless with a gun sitting within grabbing distance, you plan to argue and not comply with what the officer commands at that moment.

Watch closely

The passenger side officer reached in and pulled the gun from the vehicle and seems he was in possession of the weapon when the suspect exited the vehicle.
