Just because he did not call them does not mean he left the services active. He could have shut them off himself.

Some people are competent that way.

Don't worry.

Some of the sharper tools on this thread have already decided that this guy, whom they apparently know to be a highly skilled engineer, carefully turned off the utilities before he used an excavator as a makeshift bulldozer.

They also know that it was his house, even though her name was on the deed. They also know that he paid all the bills, even though he is unemployed and she has a job.

Basically, just take any sentence in the article and assume - without a shred of evidence - that the opposite of that sentence is true.
