Police Investigate Family for Letting Their Kids Walk Home Alone.
Slate ^ | 01/16/2015 | Slate- Hanna Rosin

On a recent Saturday afternoon, a 10-year old Maryland boy named Rafi and his 6-year old sister, Dvora, walked home by themselves from a playground about a mile away from their suburban house. They made it about halfway home when the police picked them up. You’ve heard these stories before, about what happens when kids in paranoid, hyperprotective America go to and from playgrounds alone. I bet you can guess the sequence of events preceding and after: Someone saw the kids walking without an adult and called the police. The police tracked down the kids and drove them home. The hitch this time is, when the police got there, they discovered that they were meddling with the wrong family.

Yet the somali families down the block let their 2 and 3 year olds wonder alone for blocks and then yell at the neighboring 8 year olds to watch them better.

I did the same in Whittier. Never alone but with friends from the same block.

” The police asked for the father’s ID, and when he refused, called six patrol cars as backup. Alexander went upstairs, and the police called out that if he came down with anything else in his hand “shots would be fired,”

When did the constitution get amended to allow fascism?

Were the children walking without helmets, knee and elbow pads, shin guards and mouth protectors?

The parents are stupid liberals. Should they be arrested? No. But I think they’re using the “teaching them indepence” defense out of convenience. Or they’re just stupid.

“Free range” is for chickens, so they can lead a happy life before they are slaughtered and sent to the supermarket.
It is not for kids.

There needs to be a number you can call when JackBootThugs ARE the problem.

Imagine a hundred armed people showing up and performing a citizen’s arrest of the police.

During middle school, I walked 3 miles to and from school each day. Much of it through woods. I did it because I enjoyed walking in the woods, and hated riding a bus. Bad weather never even stopped me. The morning Hurricane Hugo was coming through and over us(tropical storm strength by then) was very interesting. Trees going down everywhere. When branches would snap, it would sound like a .223 rifle going off. I reached a point to where I was like: “to hell with this”, and went back home - where I then heard that school was closed. Then the power went out. lol (for a week)

Most molestations are behind closed doors, done by a family relation or close friend. Statistically, kids are safer from the risk of being molested when they are outside the home. Logically, independent children are far less likely to passively accept molestation.

Statistically, it is far more dangerous to be driven to a park 1 mile from home than to walk there.

Living a life in fear isn’t living, it is self imposed imprisonment. Even though these parents are likely whacked out liberals pretending to be libertarians, they are seeing first hand the results of their blind obedience to liberalism where the all powerful state is there looking after their every decision.

A free range kid card... Papers please! Where is your walking permit?

At 10 we were always miles away on bikes, and then came home for dinner.

I seem to recall a year or two ago a woman being charged with neglect for leaving her child alone on the front porch while she was inside cleaning the house.

The fact that today’s kids are much less self-reliant than the ones from my generation (the late 1950s through the 1960s) is a very old story, unfortunately.

The police asked for the father’s ID, and when he refused, called six patrol cars as backup. Alexander went upstairs, and the police called out that if he came down with anything else in his hand “shots would be fired,” according to Alexander.

Typical. The police amp it up to a shooting situation at the drop of a hat.

When I was 8 or 9 years old, I took the streetcar from one end of Yokohama and back. The round trip ticket was 25 yen, about 7 cents back then.
I was the only gaijin on board...

from the article: “or laissez-faire parents who let their children roam wherever”

as if that’s somehow a bad thing???

What a bunch of panty-waisted namby-pams!

I swear I am so glad I am past raising kids...we would be in the wilds of Alaska or some place...How DARE these cops and cps-ers[99% women...bet on it] think they have the right to say ANYTHING about kids being kids.

“Investigating the people who threaten them is not an option, I guess.”

SUE THE LIL’ BACHELOR’S CHILDREN!

IIRC, if Trough Feeders from more than one agency are involved, a conspiracy to infringe Constitution protected rights may have occurred.

Nice jail sentences are attached to convictions of such behavior.

;-)
