BOSTON - The NFL confirmed multiple footballs used in the AFC Championship were under-inflated, ESPN reported late Tuesday evening.
Sports Center tweeted just after 11 p.m. that the New England Patriots let air out of 11 of 12 game balls on Sunday.

Well, I have to say, I hope Manning doesn’t go out like this. I re-watched that game against the Colts, and that was just sad. I kind of like him, and would rather attribute that to his injury, rather than his talent just dropping off a cliff.
As an opposition fan, we have fun with the “Peyton Face” and “Goober” and all that stuff, but the bottom line is, it is just fan fun. You have to recognize greatness, and we do...I can’t imagine anyone liked seeing him play against the Colts that way.
It must have been hard for a lot of Indianapolis fans, too.
What psi level is the NFL standard? What psi level were the tested balls at? Was it only New England that had the altered balls to use? What are the balls filled with? Air? Nitrogen? Something else? Did the kickers have different inflation levels?
Typical American fact free news coverage.
Each team is responsible for their own footballs and use the footballs they bring.
It’s not a matter if their cheating helped them win... it’s more the issue that apparently someone w/ in Pat’s orginization cheated.
Stupid to cheat. Nothing will happen to them or the coach. The Pat’s win the Super Bowl and no one cares about the fact the Pat’s cheated.
Do they use their own spoons?
Excellent typo:)
I think the refs should be in control of the balls before and during the game. Letting the teams manage the balls just allows shenanigans to take place.
That’s an impressive statement of First-World outrage!
The balls are required be inflated between 12.5 and 13.5 pounds per square inch and weigh between 14 and 15 ounces.
The rest of your question I have not found the answers to.
yet.
Russell Wilson is a GREAT guy.
Apparently the same scientists that say we are globully warming
Apparently the same scientists that say we are globully warming
And in Denver, they get a Mile High from it!
Pete Carroll does seem pretty clownish, but Russell Wilson seems like an okay guy.
It was really strange to see him bawling like that last Sunday, but it is easy to guess he must have been tears of relief not to have put the torpedo into his own ship...
I’m a pats fan ... so this statement is not in my interest ... my understanding is that each team supplies 12, and they use their own on offense. So it’s not a ‘both teams used them’ thing.
That said, the refs inspect them and hold them (this whole conversation is just wrong) after every single play. So it’s kind of like robbing a jewelry store by asking the police to carry the diamonds out for you.
Pete Carroll is a liberal moron. He makes me sick.
Russell Wilson is a super guy off the field and pretty darn good on the field!
Well, Pete cheated at USC, so you'll still be rooting for a cheater. But I always say: If you ain't cheatin', you ain't tryin'!.
I have despised the Patriots ever since Spygate. IMHO, they shoulda forfeited and be credited with going 15-1 [17-2 overall] instead of 16-0 [18-1 overall] that season.
Now this - I don’t care if they were the better team [they were]. The fact is that they cheated [apparently].
They should be made to forfeit the game [but, it won’t happen].
I hate the Seahawks, but I have to root for them in the Super Bowl because I cannot [and will NEVER] root for the Patriots.
Oh, man. ROFL
I was wondering how much difference temp made. I know my trucks computer said my tires lost a couple of pounds in Nebraska compared to what they were in Texas over Christmas.
