Wireless connection logon, and as for Firefox—Omigosh, you talk about browsers messing up! It kept opening up multiple tabs without my say-so to ad sites, and pop-up add crap everywhere. Could never get anything done, so after two tries of uninstalling and reinstalling and making sure I had the latest version, I finally called it quits. I’m thinking of reinstalling Tor.
It sounds like you did have some malware!
When you read stuff on sites, are there a lot of underlined words that have pop-ups if your cursor touches them?
That is also adware!

You are probably full of viruses and malware.
Browsers don’t do that, malware,adware, viruses that glom on the the browser do that.
Sounds like you have some pesky adware (or maybe a trojan) on your computer that's slowing things down.
