Mitt Romney stressed the need to sharply reduce poverty in America Friday night during a speech to members of the Republican National Committee.
Under President Obama, the rich have gotten richer, income inequality has gotten worse and there are more people in poverty in American than ever before, the former Massachusetts governor told a large crowd aboard the USS Midway Museum on San Diego Bay.
He said only Republican and conservative principles, such as focusing on education, fostering strong families and creating jobs, could solve a problem that President Lyndon Johnson first tackled 50 years ago.
His heart was in the right place, but his policies didnt work, said Romney, contending Obama has failed in similar fashion to Johnson. Their liberal policies are good for a campaign every four years, but they dont get the job done.

I hope he defiantly and stubbornly runs.
Him, Jebbie, and Christie is nothing but good for conservatives.
Let them drain out the Chamber of commerce money and a true conservative like Ted Cruz take the prize!

Prepare ... The mainstream media will breathlessly report ANYTHING involving Jeb, Mitt or Chris, while ignoring Ted completely. Ted Cruz drives daggers into their ongoing narrative.

Some Republicans have openly questioned whether his time has passed and even some former supporters are discouraging Romney from another bid. His time was past long before 2012 when he helped pass socialized medicine for the citizens of Massachusetts.
Romney needs to face facts; the only place he can honestly call himself a Republican is in Massachusetts.
It is bad enough that he was a leading political proponent of Romney Care that he did not but that he did not declare it a failure and renounce his support for the program during his presidential campaign was a guarantee that he would lose the support of the Conservative wing of the party and lose the election.
Unless he gets out early and corrects those weaknesses in his strategy he might as well spend his time on the golf course and leave the campaign money to other candidates who have a chance of winning in the general election.
