Actually the 1970s produced probably the best music of all time

My top ten songs for the 1970's:

  1. Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy--The Andrews Sisters (1973)

  2. Don't Let Him Touch You--The Angelettes (1972)

  3. Whispering (Cherchez la Femme)--Dr. Buzzard's Original Savannah Band (1976)

  4. You Needed Me--Anne Murray (1978)

  5. Conny Kramer--Juliane Werding (1972)

  6. Welfare Cadillac--Guy Drake (1970)

  7. Freeze a Yankee--The Folkel Minority (1977)

  8. Cheaper Food or No More Food--Bobby "So Fine" Butler (1979)

  9. Monika--Ulli Martin (1971)

  10. Convoy--C. W. McCall (1976)

There was such a variety of music in the 1970s. I don't know why so many people are down on 1970s music. It was probably the one period of time in our lifetimes that acts as diverse from each other as The Rolling Stones, Engelbert Humperdinck, Anne Murray, Sister Janet Mead (yes, a nun), The Bee Gees and James Brown could all be heard on Top 40 radio at the same time. And that's just scratching the surface of the variety.

Yes, there was definitely some goofy novelty songs that for some reason defined the era for some ("Disco Duck", "Convoy", "Chick-A-Boom", "My Ding A Ling A Ling" to name a few) but most of the great rock albums were recorded during the 1970s ranging from Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, Aerosmith, Bob Dylan, Supertramp, David Bowie, Neil Young, Fleetwood Mac, Elton John (before he got really weird), and so on.

I would gladly go back to January 1970 and do that decade all over again. I'd just skip the platform shoes and bell bottoms.
