EXCLUSIVE: Snake Plissken is back! Fox has emerged from competitive bidding and closed a deal to remake the 1981 John Carpenter-directed cult classic Escape From New York. Andrew Rona and Alex Heinemans The Picture Company will produce. The original was released by Avco Embassy, and the rights were owned by Studiocanal. Carpenter will be an executive producer and will exert creative influence over the project. Foxs Mike Ireland brought it in and will steer. The hope is to reinvent the property with an eye toward launching a new franchise.

Thanks for that...I needed a new monitor and keyboard.

*laugh* Great minds think alike. :)
Benedict Cumberbatch IS Snake Plissken!
Quite a good list overall, but personally I found Larry Coreias Dead Six to be rather boring and predictable for the most part.
Ringworld I could see as really coming off quite well if done right. Perhaps with some version of the Hobbit’s notable feet or tree-dwelling Ewok people, or a combination of the two.
But this one will be new, exciting and original. Snake will be a blind, vegan, gay Asian dwarf with autism who is passionately anti-vaccine. And the black eye patch will now be a rainbow eye patch.
I’ll just watch the old one.
You can’t remake Kurt Russell.
Any bets on whether the bad guy in in this one will be a black pimp who calls himself the Duke of New York and drives around in a Cadillac with chandeliers on the hood?
The Duke of New York will be a Duchess, played by Elton John
They’ll still use the same Cadillac with the chandeliers.
No, no, no — He'll be played by Johnny Depp playing Jack Nicholson's rendition of Nicolas Cage, but with a hint of Christopher Walken.

These remakes really piss me off!!
There is now a whole generation that will not even know that great classic movies ever existed.
Only this time, Snake will be a metrosexual flower arranger who is tasked with getting a bouquet to a queer couple in LA before the deadline runs out.
Quote: “So... Despite tons of really good books out there that could be converted to screenplay, Hollywood just keep retreading the same old ground...”
No, its even worse, Hollywood keeps “re-imagining” old films and TV shoes to lend them a “modern/leftist” sensibility.” I am sure the new Escape from New York will feature a NYC that was brought to its knees as a wasteland by the policies of an evil George Bush that lead peaceful islamists into nuking it leaving it with only one purpose, namely, to serve as a huge prison colony. And who will be in that colony? Why, all those evil conservative types.
AG was bounced from HBO to STARZ. Still no release date and no cast listing. AG should be at most a mini-series rather than just a full movie or an expansion out into a full multi-year series.
Sandman should have been easy. The graphic novels make almost perfect story boards ala Miller’s 300.
As for TW... I had someone like Stoya in mind to play Ischade and Michael Chiklis to play One-Thumb. Oh well, it’s still a cool idea... :-)

I can think of an infinite amount of reasons she would make a decent anything. Yo Hollywood, more Alexandra!!!
