France will deploy 10,000 soldiers on home soil by Tuesday and post almost 5,000 extra police officers to protect Jewish sites after the killing of 17 people by Islamist militants in Paris last week, officials said.
Speaking a day after the biggest French public demonstration ever registered, in honor of the victims, Defence Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian said the country remained at risk of further attacks. Soldiers would guard transport hubs, tourism sites and key buildings and mount general street patrols.
"The threats remain and we have to protect ourselves from them. It is an internal operation that will mobilize almost as many men as we have in our overseas operations," Le Drian told reporters after a cabinet meeting.
The victims, including journalists and police, died in three days of violence that began on Wednesday with a shooting attack on the political weekly Charlie Hebdo, known for its satirical attacks on Islam and other religions. Many at Sunday's march wore badges and carried placards declaring "I Am Charlie".
The Charlie Hebdo attackers, two French-born brothers of Algerian origin, singled out the weekly for its publication of cartoons depicting and ridiculing the Prophet Mohammad.
Charlie Hebdo's remaining members are working on an eight page issue due to come out on Wednesday with a one-million copy print run. Its lawyer, Richard Malka, told France Info radio there would be caricatures of the Prophet Mohammad.
"We will not give in. The spirit of 'I am Charlie' means the right to blaspheme ," he said, adding that the front page would be released Monday evening.

France is waking up—let us hope they do not fall back asleep before the next big attack. They need to tackle this problem head on—or face Civil War in the Future.
And all this could have been prevented if they had had the courage to face reality and had opted for truth and unfettered freedom of speech before they opened their borders to mass immigration.
Instead, they indulged themselves in delusional fantasies and cherished them more than truth and reality; they persecuted and silenced those who shouted warnings or even made observations about what was going on.
Because they were too silly to opt for prevention, they're now struggling to find cures, and the cures are going to be very painful.
There is no substitute for truth, freedom of speech, and the free exchange of ideas. Whether or not this basic of Western Civilization has dawned on the majority of French people remains to be seen, and one can't help wondering how many tragedies the French must endure before they learn such a fundamental--and easy--lesson.

If these events prove anything, the bad guys will always have guns.
They need to go clean out the mosques and deport all imams to Saudi Arabia.
Unless they use those troops to clean out the “no go” zones they are fooling themselves.
They need to go into the “No Go” zones and wipe them out.

What an extraordinary document. It shows that our government is aware just how long this plan has been underway -- since the 1980s. When did they become aware?

I started with OIF in FEB 2003 when activated from Reserve duty to Active duty...
I had already started my studies for my masters in 2002 for unconventional warfare and was doing alot of research on socialist insurgencies - and then began the comparative analysis on Islamic terrorism, a subject not well linked to cause and effect...it seemed to be greatly misunderstood.
I took several books - my own experience - and combined it into a book to serve as a guide for the intel and SF communities...it’s a quick read with lots of info and linkages inside...until then, no one had really done anything similar...and no one has since...why??? I don’t know...
