You do realize that this is a commercial. A commercial that is promoting an Apple product. A commercial that is not promoting a song.
So says House as he sits in front of his iMac; depressed and recovering from the Denver loss to the Colts.
You do realize that everything that appears in ANY commercial is carefully chosen. That means every spoken word, every image, and yes, every note and lyric of the background music is chosen for what it says about the product, and how it relates to the attitudes, beliefs, and prejudices of the target audience.
You do realize that any commercial that uses a particular identifiable song DOES promote that song and the group that performs it, whether that is intentional or not.
