Is this a sign of deflation and recession?
I was at the McDonalds and got a breakfast sandwich. With my receipt they give me a slickly put together 4" x 4" paper that says Big Mac and Quarter Pounder for $2 from January 12th to January 28th. Is Mickey Dee's clearing out stale hamburger inventory? Are they trying to drum up business? They always seem to hold the line on their two top selling hamburgers at $3.99. Now they are going for half price. For a limited time only of course
The nearest In-N-Out to me is in northern California. A two day trip for a burger!

Yep, illusionary alright. Back in the mid 60’s I worked at our local golden arches and the burger was the same size (if not slightly bigger) as the bun ... either the bun got bigger or the burger got smaller.
Next time you buy a basic burger from Mickey D’s, take the top bun off and see how small the burger is in comparison to the bun. The burger is almost as small as the pickle slices.
The illusion is that we think we are getting something for our money.
Price went up, burger size went down. LOL!
Re-read my comment. I said I've made my own Sausage McMuffin's at home...and I've ALSO made the open-faced sandwiches with bacon.

In 1990, McDonald's switched to vegetable oil as a way to improve the cholesterol-producing profile of its fries. To keep the taste consistent, they added beef flavoring but said the fries were vegetarian. That backfired. Vegetarian groups sued the company last year, and in May McDonald's apologized and paid $10 million to various vegetarian and nutrition organizations as well as Hindu and Sikh groups in addition to millions in legal fees.
The Oak Brook, Ill., company said it was not required by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration to reveal the use of beef flavoring and that it didn't use the substance in fries sold at restaurants in India or predominantly Hindu countries, where the cow is sacred.

I think BK is on their last leg here in Colorado. They are run by foreigners that are slow and sloppy. The restaurants are a mess. Come to think of it, so are the KFCs, too. They’re losing business to the point they don’t even make chicken anymore until someone orders it.
LOL!! That’s okay...I have that problem too. I blame it on old age.
They need to hire a bunch of Greeks. They do know how to prepare food that is tasty.

I’m convinced that they went to a different beef patty. It just doesn’t have the taste anymore.
They don’t even smell the same and their fries were to kill for ... no longer. Close, but no cigar.
So the delta between your sandwich and McD’s is an extra egg, bacon instead of ham, and two slices of swiss instead of one slice of cheddar. I can see this making a tastier sandwich. Still, the McMuffin is a true thing of beauty, especially if you’re in the mood for one.

It’s a no brainer to make breakfast sandwiches at home. They freeze well and make for a quick meal on an early run out the door.
Had a Big Mac tonight. I think they substitute onions for the lettuce on it.
So save .50 for a Big Mac ripoff? Yeah that’s not stupid at all.

We order off the dollar menu during those rare time when the kids are starving and we won’t be home for awhile. If I could afford it, the only fast food burger we would eat would be Culver’s butter burgers.
