The Thruway Authority closed Interstate 90 at midnight Thursday from Exit 46 outside Rochester
I live in Rochester and both my sons went to SUNY Fredonia (west of Buffalo) in the 90s.
What is truly amazing about lake effect snow, is the Thruway from Rochester might be sunny and dry but as you approach from the east to (say) Hamburg, the road looks like it disappears into a solid wall of white.
Beautiful, yet scary as hell.

Back in ‘86 I was going to visit friends in Ratfester (I am an RIT Grad) for Thanksgiving ... driving 90 from Buffalo to Rochester I spun out 3 times and did damage to all 4 sides of my car.
