Funny you mention that. My blue merle smooth collies LOVED the Purina chow I used to buy. Then the name was changed to “Healthy Vitality” (about a month before the melamine scandal hit the press). They absolutely REFUSED to eat it. Pollux, who was a foodaholic went 3 days without eating, and Castor went 5.

Even Zippy (peke/pom/sheltie) refused it for a week.

I thought there was something wrong with the dogs, took them to the vet, and on the way home bought a different brand (made in Canada) food.

Not a problem since.

I check EVERY label of food I buy now. If it doesn’t come from a free country, I won’t buy it anymore. Europe, Japan, S Korea, Aus, USA, Canada, sure. Anyone else I am VERY cautious.

I saw a big bag of treats at Petco today. Reminded me of the bags of all the cheap sh—ty candy you see around halloween.

It had rolled up rawhide, some hooves, some ears and....an entire pig foot. bones, skin, flesh hooves and all—all dried up.... nothing dogs (or people) don’t eat... but looked like a crime scene or something..just a pig foot lopped off and dehydrated
