Check out propane.
It’s pretty cheap most places and can be cheaper than electric.

Look on your bill and see what the kw hr price is.

We have a place with a well and heats with propane. Septic tank. There is rural electric. Need it for the well but could theoretically pump the water by hand or propane. We have a tank for the propane which has to be filled a few times a year. How would a small wind mill work?

My electric comes from hydro electric my kilowatt charge is 0.0612 for the first 3000kw. The delivery charge per kw is an additional .0371.

Also on my bill are some very small charges for removal of dams in my state. Very confused, isn't hydro generated electricity green? Apparently not green enough for the environmentalists in my state.
