When from the top leadership on down, this includes our beloved President, laws and ethics are traded in for politics and financial gains this usually portends the beginning of the end of what was once a Great Society. How do you expect the average and plain citizen to respect the law when he looks up to his or her leaders occupying a variety of positions and finds that they are about as deceitful and crooked as they come and twist the laws each and every which way they can in order to suit their purpose. Western societies dont die from wars but gradually succumb to self inflicted suicide such as removing the guard rails of ethics, laws and common sense which has kept our society on an even keel. If things keep on going the way they are the future is questionable at best and more mayhem will be in the making.
And you have neatly encapsulated the problem. The blatant hypocracy and lawlessness at the top breeds contempt for the law at the base, and even among the law enforcers themselves. It shouldn’t be excused but this sickness begins and ends with the voters, so long as there is still a representative form of government still in place. Our lack of energy and activism, including lobbying, protesting and donations of our time and money in selecting and motivating candidates for office to represent our side makes us presently overmatched by the other side.
On the other hand, Leviathan, massive entrenched bureaucracies of immense and unaccountable power that are almost exclusively staffed and firmly held captive by the Democrat left have, in my opinion, gone beyond a tipping point where they are now no longer accountable to even the Executive. They’ve evolved their own defense mechanisms and immune system that prevents an attempt at reducing their power and reach.
Staffed by hive mind drones such as Lois Lerner at the IRS (to name but one of the more egregious examples) they are now programmed to consistently encode, implement and enforce the leftist agenda. They have indeed been weaponized by the democrat party.
Only once a significant percentage of the populace comes to that conclusion can we expect political affairs to take a truly ‘revolutionary’ turn.
